The Cost of Having a Beautiful Patio

By: Kenny F Leichester

One can say that having a garden can be troublesome and also a joy. A beautiful garden will evidently increase the value of the house.
There is two ways in which a patio build. One is that can just be added on and the other is that it can be constructed from the ground up. The work of constructing the patio garden from ground up will require the help of contractors. They will build the structures that will later hold the potted plants, small trees, fish pond with fishes swimming inside also the patio furniture. It will certainly become a magnificent sight for the eyes.
The latter option of course comes at a price, and for some, a mite bit too cold. Too structured. This is where one can opt for the do-it-yourself (at least, where patio garden set-up is concerned, at least) using mostly wood-based garden accessories including a pergola. The beauty of this set-up is that you can change the overall look every now and then, without having to go for a major renovation exercise.
Doing work on your garden will bring you full satisfaction once you start seeing the garden come to picture even when it requires quite sometime for that to happen. You will also need to equip yourself with a lot of knowledge on gardening as well as preparing yourself for hard work. You will also need a sense of creativity.
What do you need aside from a pergola? Buying some patio umbrellas might be a good idea, as some form of shade would help not only in the work you are doing but also provide protection to the potted flower plants which would form the bulk of your garden décor.
You might be very excited about planting all the plants and flowers you can get your hands on. It is not always good to overdo things especially plant. The wild bushy picture you have in your imagination might a sight for sore eyes in real life. You should also think about the attention you will have to provide them afterwards.
Boundries can be created by having potted plants. You can also have wooden rods for they don’t interfere of your open spaces unlike the metal rods. They can also be taken apart and recycled later when you want to try another look.
This is the other advantage of working with wood based garden accessories – teak furniture sets, for example – as it means that when the time comes to do some serious work on the garden, you can easily enlarge your working area by temporarily moving the items elsewhere.
The form of care you will have to provide your garden patio are trimming plants of dead leaves, dried up flowers, cutting branches and controlling it from growing too fast. Trimming the grass will also be needed from time to time so that it is a good-looking height.
Apart from that, you also need to control the growth of weeds. You don’t want them to take over your garden as they can grow pretty fast.
You should also remember to water the plants twice a day; once in the morning and another time in the evening. This is because plants use the water mostly during these two times. This is good enough for the gardeners as they don’t need to sweat it in the sun.
The sun, however, does not shine 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and owners could install outdoor heaters close to the patio garden to allow time outside during such cold season. Not only just for maintenance but also to just embrace the cool weather. The chill of the cold winds caressing exposed skin has to be experience to remind oneself how wonderful it is to be alive.
Take care however to operate the patio heaters only when needed. Just like the air conditioner, such heaters are inefficient at best. They are after all, heating open spaces. The heat generated would dissipate easily if the temperature is far too low but when the weather is too extreme, one doubts if the owners would leave the cold comforts of the plush indoors.
Be ready to move when the weather pattern breaks as it would undoubtedly mean some major work on your part for the patio garden is again in need of some tender loving care and nurturing.
