Based in San Francisco, California -- the 49ers are a professional football team that was established back in 1946; they started out playing for the American football conference Western division (1946 to 1949), from 1950 until today they have been part of the NFL and have had two years of participation with the national conference and from 1953 to 1969 they were part of the Western Conference. From 1970 until today they have played under the national football conference West division. The team's current home field is the Bill Walsh Field at monster Park, the team owners are Dennis DeBartolo and John York, the general manager is Scot McCloughan and the head coach is Mike Nolan.

The 49ers have won five conference championships under the NFC (1981, 1984, 1988, 1989 and 1994); the number of division championships they have won is quite amazing, with a total of 17 division championships they have left a noticeable footprint which will be very hard to match for any team playing under the NFC West division, there division championships span from 1970 all the way to 2002. To top it all off they have had five successful Super Bowl championship participations, the first was in 1981, the next one in 1984, then 1988, 1989 and 1994.
